Dreaming of some gnocchi? Panting for parpadelle? Then join the club. Pasta is a simple dish, but as they always say, the simplest things are always the hardest to perfect. Thankfully for us lucky Londoners, some of the best pasta places have made London their home. This is just some of the best places to get your pasta fixes.
PASTAIO
📍Oxford Circus & Westfield London
You know a restaurant is doing pretty well when it’s expanding. Only the second permanent branch following the success of its first near Carnaby Street, all the pasta is made fresh, on-site, and chances of nabbing a table is pretty good considering their outside terrace (covered in the winter months) and a second-floor. It’s relaxed and casual with pop music in the background, colourful artwork and neon signs adorning the walls. With Westfield just across, it’s a good shout after that retail therapy. Get this on your list of pasta places to eat.
EMILIA’S
📍 St. Katherine’s Dock & Aldgate East
If you like extra shaved cheese on your pasta, then come to Emilia’s because you can expect mountains of it here. The pasta isn’t just freshly crafted here, you’ll find many more pasta side essentials like creamy burrata with toasted bread. The St. Katherine’s Dock branch may be more picturesque and intimate, but small. You’re better of finding a table/counter dining spot at the bigger branch in Aldgate instead.
PADELLA
📍London Bridge
Do these guys even need an introduction? A Borough Market institution since it opened its doors in 2016, Padella has been treating us with freshly AF pasta at reasonable prices in one of London most popular foodie area. It’s no rocket science why Padella is popular, with a queue that snakes into Borough Market. Fours years on and there’s still a queue to get in, but I suppose it’s worth it if you’re going to eat one of the best pasta that you’re going to put in your mouth. And East Londoners rejoice – Padella is opening a branch in Shoreditch in 2020. The foodie scene in East London just gets better and better.
THE CHEESE WHEEL
📍Camden Kerb Market
Name a better place that does cheesy pasta better than this place. A food stall rather than a restaurant, these guys have been making fresh, handmade tagliatelle is finished off cooking in a giant wheel of cheese. The result is creamy and cheesy pasta that you can’t find anywhere else . Be extra and add toppings for a touch more.
