After reading about NY-LON Lounge Bar before my visit, I had sky high expectations….and I was not disappointed.
Another Bar? What’s the drinks like? What makes this one so good?
Based in the iconic 02 Arena and the result of a partnership between Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines, NY-LON is aviation-themed bar celebrating the transatlantic connection between New York and London. You can sip on classic cocktail or NY-LON’s many aviation-themed house specials such as 30,000 Feet or Slip Stream. I stayed true to London and went for the London Vesper Martini (shaken, not stirred, obvs) and it was so smooth even 007 would approve. If cocktails aren’t your thing, you’re sure to find something you fancy with the extensive drinks menu is extensive from craft beers to a glass of red.

Very unique! But what about the food?
The food (small plates and sharing board) also follows the transatlantic theme. As much as I was tempted by London’s Fish Pie (sourced from nearby Billingsgate Market), New York Mac ‘n’ Cheese was too tempting. It was a good take on a classic dish. I was, however, a little disappointed with the crab salad which was little watery. For the sharing board I went for the Land option: salt beef, pastrami, sauerkraut and crusty rye bread. It is pricey but plentiful and perfect for two people to share

Cocktails & food sounds good, but what about the atmosphere?
I caught NY-LON at one of it’s quietest time so atmosphere was hard to judge. However, I thought the bar was spacious, modern, plush – just like a real first-class lounge. My only small gripe is that lightings could be dimmed a bit to create a better ambience.
First-class service or economy class?
Service was first-class. My host was very helpful, suggesting the various options on the menu and always on hand to answer your questions or service your needs. Small details matter and I thought even the staff outfit were pretty cool, seamlessly blending in with the bar’s theme and colour, right from the red jackets, to the crisp white shirt and down to the red Converses.

Anything secret I should know about?
NY-LON was very impressive and can cater for many occasions from business to catching-up with mates. You can go the extra distance and impress your group of friends or business co-workers by booking the ‘secret room’ for private use.
All sounds good. What was your fave thing about the bar?
It’s very hard to follow to think of what I liked most about NY-LON. It really is a great all-round bar that really transports and immerses you to first-class airport lounge minus all the stress of international travel.
Unique, plush, modern, great music and with great cocktails in the heart of one London’s recognisable arenas, I wouldn’t mind making NY-LON my number one destination for cocktails.
